JULY 22, 2016 – THE FIRST OFFICIAL FEAST DAY OF ST. MARY MAGDALENE, APOSTLE OF THE APOSTLES – – – ERIS AWAKENS!

The Vatican has declared that the official feast day of St. Mary Magdalene, the ´Apostle of the Apostles´ will be held on the 22nd of July. Her liturgical memorial is usually celebrated then, but for the first time it will be elevated to a feast day, on par with other Christian saints. The Vatican´s official statement cites her special status in Jesus´life and teaching and officially recognizes her as the one who first saw Christ arise from his tomb.

To quote Archbishop Arthur Roche, secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacrament:

“Precisely since she was an eyewitness to the Risen Christ, she was also the first to testify before the apostles. She fulfils the mandate the Risen Christ gives her: ‘go to my brothers and say to them … Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her’. In this way she becomes, as is already known, an evangelist, or rather a messenger who announces the good news of the resurrection of the Lord; or, as Rabano Mauro and St. Thomas Aquinas said, ‘apostolorum apostola’, as she announces to the apostles what they in turn will announce to all the world.

The Angelic Doctor is right to apply this term to Mary Magdalene: she is the witness to the Risen Christ and announces the message of the resurrection of the Lord, like the other apostles. Therefore it is right that the liturgical celebration of this woman should have the same level of festivity given to the apostles in the General Roman Calendar, and that the special mission of this woman be highlighted, as an example and model to every woman in the Church”

(Now – the shift here isn´t in the fact that knowledge is shared – it´s been around – it´s in the fact that it is being recognized by traditional religious institutions. And there is more to happen there.)

Astrologically, in the Tropical Zodiac, this corresponds with the first day that the Sun enters Leo. It is no surprise to me that her memory has always been celebrated on this day.

What a day to honor the rebirthing of the Sacred, Sensual Feminine, at the start of the month of Royal Leo!

Nothing short of a red, fiery crown sits atop her head, and in my heart I can feel her smile. Even more so now.

What is also significant is that the Vatican published the announcement on its website a day after the Eris-Uranus conjunction (1 of 3) went exact, i.e. on the 10th of June.

She has been featuring strongly for many of us in the past few weeks energetically-and-astrologically with the participation of the asteroid Magdalena in the ongoing Grand Mutable Cross. For me, that meant delving into a book of collected research articles on her and visiting sacred sites associated with Her energy. Some of you would have read my article on THE MAGDALENE SPEAKS –http://wp.me/p4OUNS-1cZ and related publications. In fact, I was at Rosslyn Chapel just two days ago, a place where the St. Michael, Rose, and Greenwich Lines converge.

The Vatican´s announcement is truly wonderful news to hear and I hope the significance of this announcement and its timing will be celebrated by all those of us in service of the Feminine and her union with the Masculine once more.

That being said, the Eris-Uranus awakening has also brought other pieces of news to us all demonstrating that there is still much work to be done – especially in the domain of politics, law-making, academia and our cultural attitudes towards sexuality. In my own travels I also see deeper levels of collective energy-working required to bring back the Feminine in a balanced, loving manner.

Some of the places so strongly associated with Her are in need of the greatest attention. It is not enough to search out the places of legend or to remember them fondly – more and more of us will be called to address energies of these places directly – as so much of it has been distorted. And – without playing into the same power games and energetic structures that have kept the Feminine chained and distorted for so long. You see that in just about every major center labelled as a Goddess site, unless it is relatively unknown and inaccessible.

For those of us who do this kind of work, pay close attention to the land you work with at this time and the many lands within.

That being said, this piece of news is a sweet one to savour. It is a long, long awaited step in the Church´s official recognition of the sanctity of the Magdalene – and perhaps one day they will move towards an even fuller recognition of her role in early Christianity and in the life of Christ.

I hope to see parallel awakenings in other major faiths, energetic centers and spiritual traditions across the globe.
