Buzz, buzz: Grounding Out, Mindful Communication & Other Strategies for the Gemini Full Moon

Pinus_ponderosa_cone,_Summerland,_British_Columbia
Gemini’s energies can over-stimulate the brain, what we perceive, what we want to express and shout out loud to the world. Now whether any of this stuff is actually true or valid is besides the point – it all gets filtered through the ego-mind. Some of those responses will be a screaming need to be heard, or to express something that just wants to burst out in you. As a friend of mine reminded me, it’s not just the Full Moon, we’re also heading towards the exact Neptune-Sagittarius square on November 26. Bear in mind that Chiron is also preparing to go direct on Nov 28! The Gemini Full Moon itself goes exact on 25th November 2015 at 22:44 UTC time (that’s 26th the 26th for those in Asia/Australia).
Some of you will use this energy with ease and channel the writer, student, or seeker of knowledge within. Others will be over-taxed with information, energy and no place to put it!
Plus, Saturn’s proximity to the Sun (opposed the Moon) adds pressure to all of the above.. . . Yikes!

Practically speaking – the best response that I know of the energetic overloading of the mind at this time is to — GROUND OUT.

You can practice grounding or support the process by
  • Finding raw earth or soil to sit down on or walk on with bare feet
  • Sitting on the roots of a tree and leaning against its trunk (my favourite method)
  • Using certain gemstones like smoky quartz, boji stones, etc. either by holding them, placing them on the root chakra, or sitting with them in a circle
  • voiding stimulants like tobacco or caffeine for as long you feel the need to as the last thing you might want now is an extra buzz
  • Consuming foods that make you feel grounded – some prefer leafy greens, squash, nuts, and others prefer meat or chocolate (just listen to what your body is saying)
  • Increasing intake of Vitamin B and Omega 3-6-9 s (which support brain function) be it through supplements or foods where these naturally occur in high amounts. Bear in mind not to overdo it.
Another thing that I’d suggest at this time is to practice mindful communication:
  • Take the time to read, and re-read matters of significance to you: jumping the gun or responding with knee-jerk reactions isn’t going to help
  • Consider the impact of your responses or communications: Do they clarify things, or muddy the waters?
  • Consider your perceptions: are they coming from a place of balance, or imbalance within you?
  • Consider your audience: who are you speaking to, and why?
  • Consider alternate perspectives: if anything, Gemini teaches us that there are multiple paths up the mountaintop and that we are free to choose a path or perspective that suits us.
  • Take nothing personally. Quite a few people are going to be responding to themselves as they interpret your words (and vice versa). Just that kind of time. You cannot demand that people see your words a certain way, nor can they demand the same of you.
A few other generic techniques come to mind, use if in resonance you and check in with an experienced practitioner you trust if unsure. The results may vary individual to individual.
  • Detoxing / Releasing: Some of you may be feeling irritable with the sheer influx of energy wanting release, some of which may be older stuff related with early childhood experiences and conditioning. Salt soaks for the feet can help, as rituals of release, or, simply spending time by the ocean, or high up in the mountains (or any place in nature where you feel at peace).
  • Journaling: Some of you may need to express deep truths at this time, and may not want to share it with others. Write it down someplace. The need to be heard is a powerful thing, even if the only person who hears it is you.
  • Sleep: The brain needs time to integrate and process 🙂 If you’re feeling a little ragged around the edges, a little more sleep might help at this time.
  • Sound Healing: Singing, chanting, mantras, tuning forks and the cleansing energies of singing bowls. (If all else fails, belting out Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep‘ is a proven method of catharsis 😉  )
  • Chakra Focus: Throat (5th Chakra – Expression), the 3rd eye (6th Chakra – Perception, Insight) and the Root/Base (1st Chakra – Grounding).
  • Gemstones:
    • Blue Lace Agate allows you to release pent up anger through a gentler form of expression.
    • Aquamarine helps you tune into a deeper vibration of Truth at this time.
    • Smoky quartz and Boji stones provide deep sources of grounding.
    • Lepidolite may have a calming effect on brain function.
  • Essential Oils: I find Patchouli particularly grounding, but there are plenty of other options – see Additional Resources (Below).
More often than not, I suspect the case will be needing to calm over-active energy centers at this time, rather than the converse. I would suggest avoiding energetic practices, meditations, overly intense emotional interactions and high-energy gemstones if you’re already feeling a little ungrounded at this time, Spend a little time in nature instead, if you can 🙂
Blessings – and I hope this guide is of use amidst all the cosmic buzz!

SUN AT 29 SCORPIO – Prepare for Emergence (a.k.a ‘Time to Cry, then Fly’)

Phoenix_rising_from_its_ashes

The Sun is in its last degrees of Scorpio, preparing to enter Sagittarius. At the Anaretic (29th) degree, the Sun’s focus manifests powerfully and intensely, much like the pressure of energy building-up just before it breaks through into a new sign.

We’re currently revisiting the lessons of Scorpio – a focus on intimacy, sexuality, deep emotions, ancestral karma, subconscious beliefs, fears and the Shadow. Scorpio is the Pit or Cauldron in which the Phoenix goes to die, only to Re-emerge. Here we are being asked to release older parts of the Self, to arrive at a greater sense of Self-Knowing, Self-Mastery and Emotional Security.

The Sun is sextiled the True North Node (29 Virgo) – The deeper we get with ourselves, the more likely we are going to discover paths of service, healing and nurture at this time. Those of you with placements near 29 Aries are going to be experiencing a MAJOR Yod, or Finger of Fate. Certainly the opportunity for rebirthing a (aspect or layer) new self, a key or pivotal moment or breakthrough.

The Sun is also in a Grand Water trine with Vesta, the Goddess Asteroid of Priestessing (28 Pisces) and Varuna, the (according to some sources, pre-Vedic, Dravidian deity of the lakes, waters, and Nagas – 29 Cancer). Vesta asks us to release ourselves from older wounds, experiences of spiritual vulnerabilities, karmic connections and anything that no longer resonates with our Spirit. As we release or surrender these experiences, we allow for a new identities and pathways of service and healing to emerge.

Varuna’s role is harder to explain – my journey with him has brought me back to a more primordial, formless, understanding of the Sacred Masculine – reflected in the way he continues to be worshipped in Nepal and the vibration I get from him in South India. The Vedas, which came later, see his role differently – that’s a long discussion in itself. In Cancer, I interpret Varuna’s energy to refer to a process of emotional cleansing, paving the way for renewal. To me, he represents the blank slate of Creation, well before Humanity began to invent/recognize its Gods and Goddesses and to attribute qualities, forms and structured relationships to/with them.

Taking that all together, it seems to be a time for the heightened expression of emotions and the element of ‘Water’ (intuition, emotion, the ‘flow’ of energy, ying energy, sense of connectedness, etc.). As we tread these emotional waters, we see opportunities for greater healing, catharsis and nurture – in preparation of the New Paths that Sagittarius will be encouraging us to explore.

It’ll be a rough ride for some you, so give yourselves the space you need to. Bear in mind that others will be responding to this energy in their own ways.

We’ll be seeing some easing of this intensity when the Sun shifts into Sagittarius at 15:25 UTC time, 22nd November 2015.

Blessings to All,

NEPTUNE, CIRCE, SATURN & CO. – Sacred Sexuality & The Search for Truth, Validation and Power.

Circe_Offering_the_Cup_to_Odysseus

Neptune turned direct two days ago, bringing changes in the way we experience and understand transcendental, mystical or otherworldly happenings. It relates to the flow of intuition, the feeling of connectedness we have with All-That-Is and urges us to find a sense of ‘The Sacred’ through the dissolution of the Ego-Self. It is linked with the energy of mystics, saints, spiritual martyrs – those who have touched the face of God/dess and felt the vibration of Unconditional Love. However, Neptune is equally linked to narcissists, addicts and those who seek to ‘escape’ reality and the need for certain boundaries, often in harmful ways. It’s a pretty intense energy, expressed either way …

There’s a lot happening with Neptune in the skies right now – and whilst I had this lovely, long piece prepared – I figured I’d go for the bare-bones summary.

Neptune conjunct Circe (7 Pisces): We look to Circe, the sexual enchantress, witch, master herbalist and potions-maker that mythology remembers as the ‘bad, temptress’ of ‘innocent’ men. I suspect she got the short end of the stick, and much of her narrative plays out male fantasies. With the two together, I see an intense focus questioning the sacredness of sexuality, and the many taboos that surround the merging of the two. Conjunctions are ambiguous at the best of times, but especially so with Neptune – it’s vital for those who Honor the Sexuality of the Divine Feminine to recognize their work and the projections that surround it. There’s going to be a strong interest in / response to the archetype of the ‘sacred whore’ or ‘holy prostitute’. Some Priestesses seek to reclaim these terms as being sacred, whilst others reject them wholeheartedly. As we seek to explore these themes, we are bound to uncover strong responses – be it from ourselves, others, or simply the projections of the collective.

Neptune/Circe squared Saturn, Tantalus (7 Sagittarius): Many are feeling the need to impress upon the world their variant or brand of Truth as being the best, or most valid thing since sliced bread. Considering Circe’s role in all this, I suspect that those who see themselves as spiritual or religious authorities may feel the need to question the validity of The Sacred, Sexual Feminine Archetype or alternative spiritual paradigms. Conflicts with mentor-figures, teachers, guides, astrologers, anyone who fits the Hierophant archetype in the Tarot are possible at this time. You can see these potential conflicts as a challenge or opportunity to deepen your own knowledge about your spiritual experiences and the belief systems that support them. Tantalus’ role indicates that many will find the need to assert their Truth vis-a-vis others as a tantalizing prospect at this time, but one that probably isn’t going to yield desired results or ‘victories’. Those with placements near 7 Virgo and/or Gemini will experience this as either a Mutable T-Square or Grand Mutable Cross, signaling the need for adjustment and adaptation in the face of stress or conflict.

Neptune/Circe sextile Pallas, Icarus, Atlantis (6-7 Capricorn): A powerful opportunity for us to revisit our ideas of power, status, privilege, authority, ambition, legitimacy/social acceptance and legacy. Some may un-earth deeply rooted fears surrounding standing in one’s power vis-a-vis institutions of power/the status quo at this time, but equally, ways to address those fears. Those with placements near 6-7 Leo will experience this as a powerful Yod focus on the way a person expresses the energy of their Sacral Chakra (sensuality, joy, play, authenticity, vulnerability, creativity, the Inner Child archetype etc.). That corresponds to birthdays close to July 29-31 (approx).

Neptune/Circe trine Askalaphus (7 Scorpio): Some of you might discover deep, intimate truths about yourselves or others at this time. Consider the cost of revealing what you think you have uncovered, as some secrets may not be yours to reveal. Those with placements at 7 Cancer will experience this as a Grand Water Trine, bringing this energy close to the home/tradition/family/relationship with the Mother Archetype.

So, that’s a quick overview of some of the spiritual challenges and opportunities for growth we face right now. In terms of gemstones (those of you who use them), I’d recommend the use of Carnelian on the sacral chakra if you’re feeling low energy or Thulite if you feel the need for greater nurture. If you feel that you’re expressing your Truth in a harsh way, try Blue Lace Agate for a gentle releasing and unblocking of the Throat Chakra. Bear in mind that gemstones work in different ways for different people – these are just generic suggestions.

Neptunian energy, generally speaking, isn’t the easiest of things to handle – so if you do feel out of your depth, get to a support group that can hold space for you. Practice extra self-care at this time. Here’s a couple of practical techniques that can also help – http://wp.me/p4OUNS-Gt .

As with anything I write , take what resonates, leave the rest. If you’re new to this stuff, check in with a facilitator you trust – and above all – always, always, check in with yourself 🙂  ❤

NEPTUNE GOES DIRECT (7 Pisces) – 16:30 UTC, 18-November-2015

600px-Cymatium_lotorium_2010_G1

As Neptune stations direct, many of us are going to be experiencing a subtle, but powerful shift in the way we access and engage with spiritual energy. Neptune Retrograde was all about casting aside the illusions, ego-based projections and deep insecurities surrounding the act of Spiritual Surrender & Communion with what we understand as ‘The Sacred’. Much of the focus of the retrograde has been on inner experiences and responses to the mystical and transcendental aspects of spirituality. Neptune, in direct form, brings its own intensity, but it also allows us to go forwards and expand outwards, there’s slightly less pressure on the internal experience.

In fact, much of the heaviness and shifting we’re collectively experiencing is tied in with the end of the Neptune Retrograde. If were were to look backwards, check back to major spiritual experiences around February 17-19, 2015 when Neptune was last at 7 Pisces. For reference, the Neptune Retrograde began around June 12, 2015 at 9 Pisces ’49 – Neptune will only pass this degree once more around March 7/8, 2016. Then, and only then, does it leave its shadow period.

Basically, this means that we will be revisiting the spiritual lessons, experiences and opportunities for inner re-alignment and integration that we experienced between Feb-November 2015, over the next few months (till March 2016).

Watch the energy of vision, inspiration, imagination and spiritual communion surge forward as Neptune begins to move in stride, once again 🙂

Much Love,

Bairavee Balasubramaniam

PS – Neptune is the energy of the deep sub-conscious, as it connects with the collective un-conscious. It represents the Cosmic, Primordial Ocean of Energy that connects us all. Not everyone handles Neptune’s energy with ease as it absolutely opens us up to deep vulnerabilities, requiring deep states of spiritual surrender and being able to simply ‘sit with’ powerful emotions and intuitive currents of energy. If you’re feeling vulnerable, seek grounding in nature or the support grounds of friends or people who can hold a nurturing space for you. I’ve also compiled a list of practical techniques that I’ve found of great personal benefit in coping with the shift – http://wp.me/p4OUNS-Gt – Hope it is of use and interest  ❤  ❤  ❤  Blessings!

Heavy Hearts & Astrology: A Sky-Perspective on Current Events

Burning_candle_on_black_background
So much is going on in the world right now, and much of it brings heaviness to our hearts. You wouldn’t believe the messages I’ve been seeing in my in-box, from so many grieving, in their own ways, for their own reasons.
Astrologically speaking, I’ve been trying to identify the specific placements that brought about this wave of senseless, sad human losses (in Paris, Beirut and other places) – but sometimes astrology (or any other method of inquiring about and understanding your Universe) just does not provide you with neat and tidy answers. Sometimes, no matter how much we want a simple, rational explanation for things, we just can’t find one.
Here’s a collection of some of the celestial factors that _currently_ appear to reflect the heaviness and density that so many are feeling, be it through empathy for those who have lost loved ones, or from some kind of direct tragedy or loss in personal life.
Please bear in mind that the planets are not ‘to blame’. Astrology indicates certain possibilities for action and likely outcomes, but ultimately it comes down to how we choose to work with those windows of energy and opportunity.
I have been studying the astrology of November 13, 2015 (when so much of this stuff went down) and it does tell its own tale. I might do a piece on that later, but here’s what’s happening now:
Sun conjunct Mercury  (25 Scorpio, heavy influence: 16-18 November 2015)The Light of Awareness meets the Messenger in the Dark Den of the Underworld. Our thoughts, ideas, and mental focus finds a powerful vehicle for expression today. It is likely that we each identify a personal point of crisis (or simply intense focus) today, one that requires our highest/deepest levels of integrity. We are tested today on the use of our power and the ways in which we use words to exercise that power – for words can destroy, just as they can heal.
The Sun/Mercury are close to Achilles (24 Scorpio), whilst squaring Pandora & Hopi (23-24 Leo). We are asked to be mindful of our vulnerabilities and to acknowledge the role of fear in whatever self-defensive mechanisms we erect. We are also asked to take the leap forward into the dark/the Unknown by truly expressing what we feel (thereby triggering our vulnerabilities). There is a particular state of Surrender (with Faith) that Scorpio/Pluto encourages us to adopt as we experience its energy. It’s one of those moments where you just have to take that leap and trust that your hard-earned wings will beat into motion. Hopi encourages us to take multiple views of the same situation without letting one’s self become stuck in a persecution complex. We are asked to see the lesson behind whatever situations arise at this time.
The Sun, at this time, is also opposite Sedna (25 Taurus). Her energy is one that speaks to the themes of betrayal (especially by a masculine / paternal / father figure), release, rebirth and transformation. Her mythology is pretty graphic, and I leave it to you to do further research on her if so inclined. It’s just a little too heavy for me to deal with in this piece.
Venus conjunct Black Moon Lilith (9 Libra, 16/17 November 2015)We are asked to recognize some of the shadow qualities projected unto the bodies, sexuality and material forms of the world around us. These themes will directly relate to the feminine experience and its relationship with sex, power, rights and inequity. It can be a time in which deeply rooted fears can arise in partnerships (personal and professional). Alternatively, it can be a time in which we learn to represent, embody and bring into material manifestation aspects or qualities of the Shadow Feminine/Dark Goddess Archetype. There’s a lot of ways this conjunction (as with any conjunction) can play out.
Neptune stations Direct (17/18 November, 2015 – depending on your hemisphere – a day earlier for the US/South America, a day later for Asia/Australia)
Neptune is asking us to wake up now, and quickly. We’re being stripped away for any remaining layers of illusion, or ego-serving mis-perceptions as to the nature of the spiritual path and mysticism. For some, the wake-up call will be eye-opening, for others, the pressure of Neptune stationing direct will only serve to entrench them further in a distorted perception of reality. (see below for that that ties into questions of belief with the Saturn-Neptune square). Themes that are linked with Neptune: otherworldly realms, mystical experiences, things ‘beyond the veil’, working miracles, faith healing, martyrdom, obsession, escapism, spiritual vulnerability & sensitivity, addiction and in extreme cases – suicide. If you’re feeling particularly vulnerable at this time, get to friends or a support group that can help you. It’s going to be rough for quite a lot of people.
Saturn square Neptune (5-7 Sagittarius/Pisces, 2 degree orb). Whilst this alignment is not yet exact, we’ve already begun to see it take shape. High strung debates, polarized opinions and probing questions arise as to the relationship between organized religion and the compassion we seek out in spirituality. There are other arenas of life in which this can equally play our, e.g. in higher academia, foreign travel, philosophy/beliefs (Sagittarius) vis-a-vis our relationship with ‘The Sacred’, our personal experience of spirituality, otherworldly experiences, ideas of suffering and martyrdom and/or past-life karma. You can also see this as the conflict between the Guru/Pedagogue and the Mystic/Hermit.This square will go exact on November 26, 2015. Those with placements near 7 Gemini/Virgo will experience this as a Mutable T-Square or Grand Mutable Cross.
Mutable T-Square between Galactic Center (27 Sagittarius), North Node (28 Virgo) and Vesta/South Node (28 Pisces) – Ongoing
I could write a book on this alignment and it still wouldn’t be enough. The Galactic Center represents our connection with Ascended Beings, Wisdom Teachers, Gurus, Religious Figures and others whom we believe can inspire or lead us with their version of Truth. Whether that Truth is Valid, or Absolute is a different question. People are going to be drawn to different kinds or layers of Truth at this time, some of which seem outright incompatible with others. The North Node in Virgo challenges us to find ways to implement our truths in bite-site chunks, small acts of service, (supposedly) menial daily rituals and other practical actions. It’s an excellent time for those researching the Priestess Traditions, the Mysteries of the Womb, and for those seeking alternate paradigms to thinking about rituals, health and the concept of service. On the other hand, the same stressors can lead to overly harsh judgments, pronouncements about what standards of ‘purity’ are and a generally narrow view of what belief systems and forms/paths of service can and ought to look like. Vesta and the South Node jointly ask us to release what answers we believe we have to Neptunian concerns (spirituality, martyrdom, compassion) so that we can find new answers. We are not only asked to find new ways or paths of service, but to actually release our attachments to older understandings and the wounds, or sense of spiritual disconnection, that may have inspired them. As Neptune goes direct, we’re going to feel the power of the South Node (past karmic, older attachments, potential strengths) and Vesta (the Priestess) with greater intensity.
Those of you with placements near 27-28 Gemini (birthdays near June 18 & 19) will definitely be feeling this as a Grand Mutable Cross.
My suggestion to empaths, spiritualists and highly sensitive people would be to ground themselves as much as possible in this time. Sitting in nature under trees, eating simple but nutritious food, starting a practice of deep breathing each day – these are simple rituals that can keep you grounded through the emotional turbulence that the planet is feeling. Seek help from support groups if things feel overwhelming or get overly intense. One does not have to go at it alone, for we are all in this together.
Blessings to All,
Bairavee Balasubramaniam

The Priestess In the Re-Making – VESTA RETROGRADE IN PISCES, OPPOSED THE NORTH NODE IN VIRGO

DSCF7614

Someone reached out to me a little earlier, wanting to know why things felt .. . weird. There’s a tonne of stuff going on in the Universe right now, and quite a few exact aspects in our neck of the cosmic woods. Jupiter opposed Chiron, Venus preparing to oppose Vesta, Vesta opposing the North Node, Uranus opposed Juno, Pallas Athena shifting into Capricorn (with Ceres’ recent re-entry into Aquarius) and so on …

There’s just a lot happening. As a Priestess / Spiritual Facilitator, I feel the effects of the Vesta Retrograde quite keenly. I suspect many of you who read my work would do as well.

In Pisces, the Vesta Retrograde basically asks us to Surrender, Have Faith-in-whatever-it-is-we-consider-Sacred, and to Let Go of what no longer works. We’ve been doing a lot of that with 3 years of Saturn-in-Scorpio, but this time around it’s not so much about the Hero/ine’s epic Journey into the Underworld-and-Back, it’s more like the washing away of Piscean illusion, delusion, entrapment and spiritual glamour (meant in the magickal sense).

My take on this energy is to simply let it move through you. Keep no expectations of what must or ought to be, especially in terms of your relationship with Spirituality. You’ve got the chance right now to put an end to far older karmic patterns, contracts and past-life-lessons. There’s a lot of dissolution going on, a lot of messages that come through endings and finality.

Stay open, be compassionate – especially if that means starting with you. Priestesses and Spiritual Facilitators are born of wounds – we become ready to serve once we begin to learn how to work with them, and in ways that will not harm others in search of our work.

Try not to force a logical narrative or understanding on what you’re feeling now – Pisces’ energy is anything but rational. Just let things unfold and allow the less conscious parts of your brain & psyche outlets to channel themselves into. Some of you will turn to prayer, others to solitude and nature. Some will seek to escape into obsessive-compulsive behavior, others will feel the need to fast or exercise some kind of regiment. Some will simply need sleep and sanctuary, and others will actively seek a way to make the world move a little faster. Generally speaking, if things are simply not flowing – don’t try to force them to.

Be as receptive as you can to the powerful currents of the collective sub-conscious moving through us all and let them guide you to where you need to go. Stay aligned with your sense of inner discernment and let yourself experience the powerful alchemy of Pisces, as its waters take you to new shores.

You will find great release through forgiveness and compassion. This is always the case, but more so even now. Spiritual work and rituals of release will be particularly effective now, but use them with caution and seek help from an experienced facilitator if unsure.

Vesta’s powerful lesson – to me at least – is about letting go of those wounds that started me on the spiritualist’s journey. It means changing what I thought and felt a Priestess / Spiritual Facilitator was. The wounds do not cease to exist, but an identity of service solely born of them is released. And so new chapters can begin, new journeys, new lessons, new energy can then enter the work that I seek to do.

I suspect many Priestesses and Spiritual Facilitators are feeling this in their own ways. The Vesta Retrograde ends on November 13th in Pisces and it finally re-enters Aries on December 5th, 2015. That represents the completion of Vesta’s cycle around the zodiac, beginning on February 25/26, 2012, 3 years ago!

But why, might you ask, does Vesta gain so much importance in the skies now, when there are so many other exact aspects?

Because of her proximity to the Nodal Axis. Vesta conjuncts the South Node in Pisces, opposing the North Node in Virgo.

Quite literally, new paths of Service open as we release attachments and identifications to certain types of wounds and vulnerabilities that set us upon the path we were on.

In other words, we allow Vesta to be re-born as we release her old identity and the karmic dynamics/attachments that required that identity to come into being. Some of you might find some clues as to that how/where/what/why that particular identity was born by looking back to September 25/26, 2006 – when the roles were reversed and Vesta in Virgo opposed the North Node in Pisces.

I found that my breathing difficulties and instant need to go pilgrimaging in Nepal started right after Vesta re-entered Pisces (in my 9th house of long distance travel). Many things began to be washed away, and I begin to see what this process seeks to uncover.

A New Priestess. A New Path of Service. A New … Chapter.

And by new.. I simply mean a stripping away of whatever fear, shame, pain, or attachment to certain narratives it was that made us forget what we were in the first place.

Spirit.

PS – For those of you new to my work, I do not consider Priestess energy as exclusive to women. It is an energetic archetype – a particular way of connecting with some sense of the Sacred and embodying that connection with/to others. This archetype can manifest in people irrespective of their biological attributes / sex at birth. The Priest, as I understand the term, refers to a different archetype – you can think of it as the difference between the High Priestess and the Hierophant in Tarot. To phrase it a different way, I’ve met Priestesses who were men and Priests who were women; men who understood the Divine Feminine and women who perfectly embodied the Masculine; and beings who understood both, and much, much, more. And that just makes the world a whole lot more interesting.

Taurus Full Moon, 27 October 2015 (3 Taurus, 12:05 UTC).

DSCF7218

Blessings! I’m going to keep this short and sweet as the Taurus Full Moon brings out the philosopher in me yearning to write a book on the various attempts at bridging the spiritual with the material. In a nutshell, that is the key theme of this Lunation: How do we, as Beings of Energy-with-Consciousness, relate to the experience of Physical, Material, Embodiment?

In less jargon-laden language, basically, this Full Moon asks us to understand what grounds us, how, and why. All of us look to certain material relationships, people, experiences, memories and sensations that permit us – at a deep level – to not only occupy physical space, but even to enjoy that process. It can be the memory of a nurturing mother, a lover that let you feel loved even when you felt very unloveable, the smell of a meal that makes you think of the grandmum who held you when you were little – or anything of that ilk.

If it’s not a memory, then perhaps it is the belief or aspiration to find something that will ground you, hold space for you, and allow you to simply experience this physical world – and Be.

Scorpio’s role in this configuration asks you to look at the roots of the anchor(er). It wants to the know the source of this strength and to question – whether it is an appropriate attachment – whether this energy is freely given – and how, if you want to, you can find the same strength within yourself without having to find your rootedness in another person, experience, or thing.

Scorpio doesn’t lay low on the tough questions. It’ll knock you straight in the face if you’re playing the denial game. Taurus has it’s own way of delivering a swift kick to the behind when absolutely required.

But where the question of who/what grounds you, and why? is answered in a way that resonates with your sense of integrity and, your capacity for joy, magic happens.

Taurus brings the soft vibrations of sensual joy, playfulness, and a relatively care-free approach to enjoying this material life. It doesn’t mean you have to be a glutton, or nymphomaniac. It simply means that you can take pleasure in the very, very, physical process of ‘being alive’. Even the act of breathing can turn into a very sensual, pleasurable process when you know how 🙂

Scorpio’s energy, on the other hand, leads to the waters of deep regeneration, alchemy and the inner reserves of power. It’s a lot more intense, but when balanced, can lead us to a Rebirth of the Self. This is not to say that all of our wounds magically disappear, it is to say that we may find ourselves re-cognizing the powerful, beautiful, authentic Being-in-Flesh-with-Emotion that we are. The role of a shaman, intimate and/or sexual partner is strongly highlighted here – if you’re working with another person through whatever process that comes up for you.

Looking to the asteroids – again – keeping a long story short, it seems to be a time in which we look back to the Shadow/Underworld and re-connect with allies we thought we had lost, and sources of nurture we thought we had forgotten.

It’s quite a profound energy to work with at this time, and I wish you all the very best in doing so. How this energy moves through/as you/with you depends entirely upon how you choose to let it.

Some of you will need to shed tears, others will seek out holy places (with Neptune Retrograde at 7 Pisces trining the Sun and sextiling the Moon). Some of you will turn to healers, others will face the inner self in isolation. Some of you will do one of these, all of these, or none at all. It’s really your path and your individual pattern of spiritual growth that will determine the road you choose to take at this time.

Bear in mind that we are all strongly influenced by the opposition between Jupiter-Venus-Mars at 15-17-20 Virgo and Chiron Retrograde at 17 Pisces. In more ways than one, it is truly a time for us to balance our spiritual lives with our material ones, hopefully seeing that one cannot exist without the other as long as we remain in human form.

Blessings to All ❤ 🙂

PS – Kudos to my epic brother Ashoka Mohannan for teaching me stuff as part of our ongoing pilgrimage in Nepal. Today, we went to a very sacred place that had water from Himalayas running through as part of an underground stream. We also found a hidden pool of water devoted to the Goddess Parvati, tucked away behind an ancient shrine to Lord Pashupathinath (Shiva). This was a location that was revealed to me purely through spiritual means in February 2014 and is still relatively unknown to most Nepali people (there’s a signboard and all, but it’s not written about anywhere). It is a very sacred place to me and I am glad to have had my brother there at a key moment of re-birth for myself. ❤

PALLAS ATHENA SPECIALS: CHARTING THE PATH AHEAD (October 12 – November 4, 2015)

Pallas_Athena_by_Franz_von_Stuck

Pallas Athena – conjunct – the Galactic Center is one of my favourite placements in astrology. It enhances the facilitative and transformative potential of astrology in personal growth and awakening. Astrology itself can address just about any question from a person’s life, with some exceptions that are best addressed by other disciplines (Shamanism, Reiki, etc.), or understood as part of the Unknowable Mystery of the Soul. However, most of the concerns we have as awakening humans seeking to balance a spiritual path with material embodiment can be answered powerfully through the discipline of astrology and the modalities of healing and self-awakening that it opens up.

Pallas Athena is the Goddess Asteroid of War, Wisdom, Strategy, Diplomacy and Healing. She now approaches the Galactic Center at 27 Sagittarius, a point which (in astrology) resonates with the Wisdom of Ascended Beings, Gurus, i.e. those who show us the Path Ahead. Together, we not only glimpse the road ahead, but also the means by which we get there.

The exact conjunction of Pallas Athena -and- the Galactic Center will take place at 9:19 am, October 22nd 2015 (UTC time)

That’s October 21st for those of you in the Americas and the 22nd for Europe, Asia & Australia.

In honor of Pallas Athena’s proximity to the Galactic Center (27 Sagittarius), I am offering discounted readings between October 12 – November 4, 2015. Even if you choose to do a session before/after the exact conjunction, the energy is still strongly present in the skies for the duration of the Specials.

Mars conjuncts Jupiter (13 Virgo), trines Pluto (13 Capricorn) + Venus opposes Neptune (6 Virgo-7 Pisces) + Mercury conjunct Black Moon Lilith (5 Libra) — 16/17 Oct 2015

Quite a few dynamics to discuss in this report 🙂  Mars, the energy of the Masculine meets Jupiter, the energy of the Guru/Teacher/Mentor in the sign of Virgo, the Priestess/Virgin/Facilitator. What this means is that we see ways in which the Masculine Archetype seeks to expand its knowledge and understanding of self through engagement with Fertile, Feminine energy. We will also see new ways of being more assertive and expansive about the roads we take as part of service. Try not to be too heavy-handed about details and interpretations today as it’s wise to remember that everyone sees things differently. There are multiple roads to Service, multiple perspectives to Truth, multiple paths to Knowing. And we need them all, as a collective!

The trine to Pluto in Capricorn indicates a potential source of change, sometimes even crisis. I get the sense that many false idols are being broken, their feet of clay revealed. Whether it’s a mentor/astrologer/lover/priestess – doesn’t matter – but some part of any false ideas of power that they have/you have about them can be transformed today. Look to the little clues and follow your intuition. Try to practice a more open, and balanced sense of evaluation and judgment as many of us are jumping at hair-triggers now. Bear in mind that Pluto can destroy, just as well as it can create or regenerate. What seems to crumble now can be re-built or transmuted into something better 🙂

Those with placements close to 13 Taurus will experience this as a powerful Grand Earth Trine. For those of you who do, happy manifesting!

We also have Venus opposing Neptune – the exact alignment has yet to appear. Long story short, it’s much of the same – we see which paths we are drawn to, what ideals or aesthetics or service we identify with and want to attract and manifest (Venus in Virgo). We also see Neptune relevating its truths in Pisces. It’s a time where many may truly begin to see past the veil and discard ideals that no longer resonate, or forms that no longer match ideals. Some may even find ways to infuse the vessels/forms/paths of Service they take with greater Spiritual understanding and experience. Others may see the greater need for form, particularly one that honors the Feminine, as part of their Journey with Spirit.

Many will also be a in a position to truly re-evaluate just how their spiritual journey matches or remains incongruent with the way they treat those ‘down below’ on Planet Terra, Mother Gaia, Mama-Earth. With so much emphasis on Transcendence – the extreme of which is Escapism – many forget the Home from which we came. Widening our perceptions on which is the ideal or purest path to Service can also lead us to a fuller understanding of Spirit as well.

And in terms of relationships, we also see this as an energy in which many delusions and false ideals will be revealed. Be open to seeing those truths and you make the journey that much smoother for you.

Those with placements near 6-7 Sagittarius or Gemini will experience this as a Mutable T-Square or Grand Mutable Cross if both are present.

Last but not least, Black Moon Lilith and Mercury are conjunct at 5 Libra. The archetype of the Dark Goddess is more readily expressed through your thoughts, ideas, and forms of expression (and that of your partner/collaborator). Choose your words wisely as Lilith seeks her Balance, her Equality, her Recognition. Bear in mind that the way we communicate is as important and what we want to communicate. Lilith’s role in this alignment indicate that words have a greater probability of making the self (and significant other) more aware or sensitized to their vulnerabilities at this time. Whilst the way we present ourselves can make us more aware of those deeper woundings, we choose the way – through words that assault, or words that bridge? That’s your choice to make.

Black Moon Lilith and Mercury sextile Saturn (2 Sagittarius) & The Moon (4 Sagittarius). Those with placements near 2-4 Taurus will experience this as a challenging Yod of Fate. It is likely to involve the emotions we attach to the paths or perspectives we see as ‘The TRUTH’, culminating with the hypothetical point in Taurus.

Black Moon Lilith and Mercury are also inconjunct Neptune (7 Pisces), a body already activated by its opposition with Venus (see above). Words are even more able to trigger specific vulnerabilities we have, surrounding (this time) that unqualifiable, indescribable, intimate and deeply mysterious connection we have with Spirit. Look to bodies near 5-7 Leo to complete another Yod of Fate, or to 5-7 Taurus.

CRISIS, TRAUMA AND HEALING: JOURNEYING WITH THE SACRED, SEXUAL MASCULINE – Sun conjunct Osiris, squared Pluto ; Mars conjunct Hebe, opposed Neptune conjunct Circe

Wounded MasculineWithin contemporary spiritual writings and teachings, so much of emphasis is placed upon the Sacred Feminine and the Return of the Goddess – and for good reason. Women, and those who identify with feminine energy, have been suppressed, persecuted, oppressed and turned into vessels of subjugation, screens of projection for a distorted, socio-political system of thought, belief and action, i.e. patriarchy. Most women across the globe, and men who identify with a different sense of sexuality or simply gender identity, are still oppressed in one form or another – irrespective of a country’s level of economic, social and political capital, GDP, or level of literacy. So yes, we need to focus on the Feminine, and heavily so.

However, what is often forgotten is that the re-cognition of the Feminine principle goes hand in hand with the healing of the energetic distortion within the Masculine. I dislike using polarities such as victim vs. abuser, but it has applied across the board, especially within gendered relations. Abuse does not stop by empowering potential victims or sensitizing them to abuse, it (equally) requires us to address the roots of the dynamic of abuse in the first place. Within the masculine-feminine dynamic, much has been writing on this elsewhere – and in a very condensed summary – it comes down to the ways in which boys are socially conditioned to be aggressive towards, to assume a position of authority or condescension towards their female peers. Young boys are not encouraged to cry, to express their emotions, and to toughen up and ‘be men’. Girls are encouraged to be ‘ladylike’ in ways that do not encourage them to excel, or to enter traditional roles of domesticity and home-making. (There’s nothing wrong with that when it’s a free choice, rather than being the only socially appropriate option for a female to adopt)

Excellent FB pages such as The Girl God and Journey Of Young Women provide excellent resources where you can learn more about this, and ways you can parent children who do not identify with older paradigms of what being a girl and/or boy looks and feels like.

But let’s get back to the Wounded Masculine. Born out of a culture that taught a little boy how not to feel, or to express what he felt – even if it was sadness, anger, pain, or even an urge to wear a pink tutu … we see so many men in the world that identify with the Yang (active) principle in excess. Expression, empathy, emotion are seen as weak, debilitating things, i.e. ‘women’s’ things like childcare and housework. Force, assertiveness, power – qualities liked with willpower and drive are taken to extremes of violence, authoritarianism and suppression. We see this at the the level of the individual and collectively, at the level of government – both run by the maxim of ‘Might is Right’.

Again, this isn’t about men vs. women, as I’ve seen truly compassionate men who heal, and truly aggressive women who seek dominance at all costs. It is about a certain energetic archetype and the way it weaves its own dynamic or narrative. Statistically speaking, however, gender and sexuality plays a strong role in predicting who plays what role – they’re not determinants though. Here’s a great article by a friend of mine ( Sunyata Satchitananda ) who speaks of the same:www.sunyatasatchitananda.com/divine-masculine

Spiritually speaking, as I’ve expressed in the past, I don’t see the patriarchy as responsible for the ‘Fall of the Goddess’. I see it as a collective response to an adoption of Feminine energies in ways that were imbalanced to begin with. Most Priestesses that remember – or are beginning to – also recognize how they have partaken in a collective abuse of power, irrespective of sex/gender. Personally, I see our current experience of patriarchal dominance as a reaction to an earlier energetic imbalance in favour of the Feminine – that does not make it fair, or right – but it allows us to move past the entrenchment of the ‘us vs. them’ narrative.

For the same reason, I do not elevate or aspire to bring back the Old Ways as they needed to go. It’s about bringing back the bits that work, from different times, into something a whole lot more balanced and relevant for what we need now. And, for that same reason, my personal understanding of a utopian vision is one that is decentralized, non-hierarchical and egalitarian. Rather than ascribing sex, race, or gender as a category through which we identify one as spiritually ‘superior’ or ‘inferior’, we’ve got to (hopefully) move into a head/heart space that begins to look at things from the level of the Soul that knows no such label. For at the spiritual level, we have all played such roles (masculine, feminine, victim, abuser).

That does not mean erasing the history/herstory of violence, of gendered imbalances (past and present), or to pretend that they do not exist. It means that we need to become more aware of such imbalances and to question how we consciously or unconsciously perpetuate or participate in them – and how we can stop doing so.

In astrological terms, this need to re-examine our relationship with the Masculine/Feminine dynamic, and specifically its use/abuse of power at the individual and collective level comes through with the following (current) alignments:

(1) The Sun (13 Libra) squared Pluto (13 Capricorn). Certainly a time to explore the dynamics of power within partnerships, and also the relationship between the partnership-and-the-state. Bear in mind that Pluto is also trined Jupiter (12 Virgo), suggesting that we can find healing for those deeper, darker wounds surrounding sexuality, the abuse of power, the wounded Feminine/Masculine, and so on. The role of Virgo suggests the healing work of a spiritual facilitator/priest/priestess aligned with Feminine energy and able to work with Sacral Chakra energy – More on that below. Also bear in mind that the Sun is sextiled the Great Attractor (14 Sagittarius), making it all the more likely for us to find teachings, paradigms and paths towards healing, wholeness, awareness and balance. Those of you with placements near 13-14 Taurus are going to experience quite a profound Yod (Finger of Fate), hang in there!

(2) The Sun is about to conjunct Osiris (14 Libra) on October 8th. A time to shed the light of awareness, of focused consciousness, to the disintegrated or wounded Masculine within. Lord Osiris was torn into pieces and left for the dead in the Underworld. His wife, Goddess Isis entered the realms and literally pieced him together, re-creating a new phallus for her husband as that was the one piece she could not find. It really underlines the dominant thrust of this article .. all over again 🙂

(3) Mars (7 Virgo) conjunct Hebe (8 Virgo). The energy of the Masculine seeks healing by revisiting instances in which its earliest sexual experiences/memories/paradigms were set, often involving a violation of intimate boundaries. Again, remember that the gender roles are not static here – it could be a man remembering being hurt by a elder female in his youth, or vice versa. Ensure that you do not give additional weight to that narrative of being hurt, or by considering it a ‘fixed’ event that will always have power over your life.

(3) Neptune Retrograde (7 Pisces) conjunct Circe (7 Pisces). A caution is given here, especially with memories of abuse we uncover in dream-states or with spiritual practitioners. Not all is what it necessarily seems to be. Avoid creating a further narrative of blame/guilt with whatever comes up now. Try to see such memories or visions as symbols or metaphors as opposed to things that really happened (especially in cases where you’re really not sure). There’s a lot of vulnerability that comes through which this placement, and the use of shadow-games of projection that seek to blame one person or another as a ‘seducer’, or ‘sexual temptress/temptor’ where it may not necessarily be so. Be open to alternative explanations.

(4) Mars/Hebe (7-8 Virgo) opposed Neptune/Circe (7 Pisces). A re-emphasis of the above-mentioned themes. Those with placements close to 7-8 Gemini/Sagittarius will experience this as a Mutable T-Square or Grand Mutable Cross. Allowing yourself to shift into a more balanced vibration that facilitates healing, release, forgiveness and the recognition of your boundaries (& others) is key. Holding onto the whole victim/abuser polarity isn’t going to work that well here. Those of you who work with gemstones may consider the use of rhodocrosite or rhodonite, placed on the sacral chakra, 2-3 inches beneath the navel. It’s also a fantastic time to do any significant healing work with sexual imbalances – but also a time where you may not want to try something spiritually or ritually hardcore unless you really know what you’re doing. Neptune is sextiled Kassandra (7 Capricorn), the ignored oracle. Those with placements close to these points, and, 7 Leo will experience a Yod (Finger of Fate) that is likely to revisit past life-cycles/lessons connected to the Priestess/Mystic/Oracle archetype.

For those of you in Australia, I’d highly recommend working with Priestess Kerri Ryan, MA who runs the following FB pages: Goddess of Sacred Sex and offers sexological body-working as a healing practice. You can find out more about what she does here:http://goddessofsacredsex.com/sexological-bodywork/

Well, that about wraps up this post. I hope you use the energy of these two days to discover deeper places within yourselves in which you can find release, healing, forgiveness – and yes – Joy!

Much Love,
