BURNT TO ASH – What Next?

DSCF3312

We’re staring at the Big Void in ourselves, an aftermath of the colossal release precipitated by the Uranus/Pluto final square. Much that was no longer required was let go of, the garbage atop pure the black, soil of the Soul’s foundations finally discarded and laid bare.

We then set the seeds of a new beginning in the cleansed spaces of our being with the Total Solar Eclipse, and then the Equinox.

We celebrated that release of the old and seeding of the new with the fire, heat, passion and the intensity of pure transformation. The energies building now couldn’t be more of a contrast. At first we Danced with the Sun and its Fires, and now – we are called to Sit with the Dark Mysteries of the Moon.

There is a definite sense of emptiness – hollowness (and not in a bad way), some might call it a release, freedom, or going back to Nothingness. We’re looking at the Void where once a part of us resided. We begin to see the foundations, the soil we have cleared through years of intense transformation.

In so doing, many of us are actually beginning to see ourselves for the first time, in a long, long, time. Some of us need the time to grieve, to acknowledge, to process, to fully realize the impact of such release.

It feels silent, dark, and still. A place of rest and nurture as we honor the passage of what was, as we make space for what will be – as the seeds we planted, deep beneath the soil, mature in their own time.

I suspect it is a feeling that some of us quickly tuned into, whilst others will feel this way more so as we approach the Lunar Eclipse.

I was searching for the right metaphor to describe this experience when my friend Archana tagged me in a post of hers speaking of the Phoenix and its cycles. Talk about synchronicity, and thank you, my friend. Here’s how I see the metaphor fitting in with current energies:

We blossomed in the fires of the Phoenix and saw our own beauty, strength and purity till it reached an epic crescendo of light, colour and flame, building since the start of the Uranus-Pluto cycle in 2012. We glowed deeply and burnt fiercely at the Heart of the Self, with so much purity and love that our old ways and forms of being had to give way. What a celebration! What intensity and activity! What power and beauty!

And in an flash of lightning and fire, The Phoenix was gone.

All that remained was Ash.

And a seed, an egg of a new Self, a new Cycle buried under the layers of grey sediment.

We now rest. We observe. We wait in the liminal space between death and rebirth.

We enter the realm of the Dark Goddess and her counsel, as she pulls us into her Veil of Mystery. Many have already begun to feel her Call as she prepares us for the Lunar Eclipse of April 4/5, 2015.

Rest now, my friends – for there is work to be done 🙂

THE RISE OF THE DARK PRIESTESS: Vesta conjuncts the Galactic Center and Black Moon Lilith shifts into Virgo

The Goddess Asteroid Vesta represents the Archetype of the Priestess. She calls us to find a path of faith, commitment, devotion, dedication – and equally of sacrifice – and – rejuvenation.

Conjunct the Galactic Center, Vesta calls us to learn from the Great/Grand Central Sun and the Black Hole at the Center of the Universe. We are called to balance the Polarities of Light and Dark – and to see the Healing and Wisdom within both.

She asks us to awaken to the Wisdom and Heritage of the Priestess.

Black Moon Lilith in Virgo reinforces the same energy – Here we are challenged to stand up and determine our own Sexuality, and Material Paths of Service.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO TRANSCEND YOUR DARKNESS. OR ERASE IT. OR LIGHT IT UP SO IT RUNS AWAY….

Illustration_of_a_black_hole_and_its_surrounding_disk

The past couple of days I’ve seen spiritual writings saturated with the idea of ‘transforming’ or ‘transcending’ Darkness, and turning it into Light. Whilst I understand the basic idea behind it, I also feel compelled to share my take on it. This understanding is simply a restatement of the Binary/Duality that so much of Spirituality claims to want to transcend. The moment you ascribe normative values such as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ to experiences, and then classify them as ‘light’ and ‘dark’ – and then make narratives about which is better, which needs to be transcended, and which needs to be let go of – you’re still falling into the same trap of Judgment. (If we’re perfectly honest with ourselves — the kind of dissolution and transcendence that spirituality aspires to would require a transcending of ALL categories)

Think about it. At the end of the day, Light and Dark are different aspects of the same Reality. The moment we declare that one is somehow worse, weaker, or in need of ‘transmutation’ into the other, is the moment we officially declare war on a key aspect of our own complexity – and origins…

Now I know the idea that we’re all recycled stardust and beings of Light is true … (and I like that idea too) – but it’s also worth remembering that EVERYTHING came from Darkness.

Yes, we are children of the Supernova, but we are also descendants of a Time in which Light simply did not exist. We emerged out of that Primordial Abyss.

Those of us willing to experience ‘Darkness’ without the categories and narratives of ‘evil’ or ‘dense’ or ‘in need of transmutation’ – eventually come to the understanding that there was in fact, a Sacred, Holy Energy present in Our Collective Primordial Beginning. An energy that accompanies us through our lives, and which we return to in order to experience our most powerful moments of transformation.

Astrologers understand the pull of this energy, and the immense wisdom and cycles of learning it imparts – as expressed our recognition of points such as the Galactic Center (at 27 Sagittarius) and the Super-Galactic Center (at 1 Libra) – these are massive Black Holes which represent the energy of Spiritual Teaching (among other things) … Often, those tight aspects to these points have a strong connection with ‘Source’ (in spiritual parlance).

Spiritualists in shamanic and more ancient traditions also understand the role of the Holy Darkness, expressing this connection through the imagery of the Dark Womb of the Earth. Those who engage with the energies of the Crone, Dark and/or Warrior aspect of the Goddess will know exactly what I’m talking about. That place in which you are first discovered, nurtured, and then able to arise from (and return to, when need be).

One theory for the evolution of Life on this planet points to its origins in the deep hydrothermal vents, beneath the ocean’s floor. A very ‘dark’ place … a more relatable analogy is the how a seed must first be buried before it begins to grow…. Thinking about it… even the womb in which the human fetus gestates is … a familiar, comforting – individualized – expression and engagement with Primordial Darkness.

So no matter which perspective you look at – astrophysics, astrology, evolutionary anthropology, biology, ancient spirituality – and so on — Darkness has had a key role to play in the ‘beginning’ of Life and Existence as we know it.

So.. I’d say it’s not something to avoid – or (possibly worse) to patronize with ideas of ‘transmutation’ and ‘healing’ so it can then become ‘Light’. It is its own vibration – and one that we do not need to (and cannot) ‘light-wash’, lest we erase our own primordial origins in the process.

Darkness and Light do not share the relationship of Opposites as commonly understood – Darkness is not even the ‘absence’ of light – but the photonic saturation of Light Absorbed (thank you one of my commentors for pointing that juicy fact out)

And they really don’t share relationship of soap (Light) and grease (Dark), something which enough soap can ultimately get rid of…. That is exactly the kind of binary/heuristic duality that sprung the trap of Judgment in the first place.

Enjoy the Rainbows, Enjoy the Light – and for those of you in search of Totality … Enjoy the Sacred Darkness and all the Shades of Grey that dance between the two – whilst you’re at it.

THE PARABLE OF THE BLACK HOLE: TRAVERSING THE DARKNESS AND EMERGING INTO THE LIGHT

800px-Black_Hole_Milkyway

When I was a child, I’d clutch an astronomy picture book along with my pillow to fall asleep every night. I didn’t understand the equations behind cosmic order, or the physical laws that governed forces beyond my comprehension – I just knew I liked the cosmos – and one aspect of it in particular: The Black Hole. I understood that it was a very large rip in what we considered to be space-time and that it whirled at extremely high speeds, ripping all forms of light and matter that went nearby it into shreds. Somehow, I never saw it as the destructive abyss of total annihilation it is often portrayed as, I always viewed it as a gateway of sorts.

In my teenage years, sufficient sci fci flicks and popular science opened my mind to the possibilities of the connecting the singularities of two different black holes in different parts of the Universal fabric, creating such a gateway as I had envisioned. Intuitively, this made logical sense to my adolescent self, but I felt that something quite mysterious, transformative – even alchemical – about black holes was still missing from our scientific understanding of them. I had a knack for predicting astronomical finds based on thought experiment around this time. Logic told me that there would be ice on the Moon, for instance – and science confirmed it to be so within a year or two of that thought.

With Black Holes on the other hand, my attraction to them as a child was far from logical – I just ‘knew’ there was something about them that exemplified some core principle about the way I view and experience life. Recently, I found an article wherein science filled in that missing piece of the puzzle for me – I now know just why my attraction to this astrophysical phenomenon has been so intense, enduring and so difficult to put into words. Synchronistically, the parable of the black hole illuminates certain spiritual paradigms in the technical language of science – making one of the least palatable spiritual truths somewhat more intelligible and acceptable.

The Black Hole is a whirling void, a compression of matter, energy, time and space folded backwards to a terminating point known as the singularity at which all known physical laws of time and space break down. It is the astronomical equivalent of the atmospheric tornado, or the aquatic maelstrom. We tend to see these whirling bodies of matter and energy as destructive or terminating points, the abyss from which we do not return and whose event horizon we fear to approach. The notion of the bottomless pit, the dark abyss features prominently in certain spiritual teachings – from an internal perspective going through transformative pits in which we are destroyed, and yet arise anew, termed as the  ‘The Dark Night of the Soul’ –  a period of introspection, intense self examination, the destruction of the ego and psyche and eventual re-integration into a energetic signature of a higher vibrational frequency. We associate this powerful theme of death, transformation and rebirth with symbols such as the Rising Phoenix that leaves its ashes behind in flight. Spiritualists would describe it as ‘traveling through the Valley of the Shadow of Death to emerge as a Being of Light’. It is this process of transformation and creation through destruction associated with astrological elements such as Pluto, Hades, Scorpio and the 8th house and themes connected to the psychological and spiritual Underworld. Diverse religious traditions point to ‘Dark’ Archetypes, particularly in the figures of fierce warrior goddesses such as Kali, Lilith and Hecate that lead to spiritual transcendence through paradigmatic shifts incurred in extreme circumstances such as perceived death, loss and suffering.

The notion of Darkness in the esoteric religious, spiritual and astrological traditions of the world empowers the Void, or returning to that formless, unknowable Mystery at the Heart of Creation. In Jungian psychology, this Primal Ocean of the Collective Unconscious is strongly identified with the Anima Mundi – or aspects of the World Mother/Great Goddess archetype. Sadly, this aspect of spiritual experience is often cast as heretical, taboo, undesirable when badly misinterpreted through the lens of a very superficial, yet pervasive mis-reading of mmonotheisticbelief systems that sadly appear to espouse a rigid binary between Light/Dark = Good/Evil, despite the fact that their greatest champions, prophets, seers, etc. had each experienced their own version of ‘The Dark Night of the Soul’ – frequently in Deserts, as per the Abrahamic religions.

The more enlightened perspective of experiencing Darkness is to view it as passages through aspects of the shadow self, the suppressed or hidden psyche which we feel ashamed, afraid or in denial of. The equation of the wild archetypal female destroyer/nurturer across cultures captures the eviscerating pain of traversing this aspect of the psyche, and the illumination within that emerges through transcending this pain. Hindus may call this the Path of Sakthi (or Saktha traditons) via the Tantric Goddesses, Buddhists have their equivalent in the practice of Chod –  the ancient Assyrians, Babylonians, Sumerians and other cultures with a strong tradition of fierce female goddesses and priestesshoods understood this principle to a profound degree. It is with the comparatively recent binary drawn across gendered, ethical and spiritual lines which have confabulated this notion of traversing inner Darkness to succumbing to evil temptation, often in the form of a woman.

But what does all this have to do with the astronomical parable of the black hole? As with the transformative potential of traversing the suppressed psyche, the material reality of black holes speaks of the same story in different terms. What was once viewed as an incredibly powerful, complex, mysterious yet dangerous aspect from which there is no return, now appears as a transmutative generator of Light. Scientists at John Hopkins University have conclusively demonstrated, with the backing of 40 years of research, that the inevitable outcome of gas entering this black hole is the emission of (even) higher frequencies of light (up to 100x) from its Core, back into the Universe. As matter is superheated (up to 10 million Celsius) and transformed into photons at the heart of the abyss, it sheds its old form and emerges anew, burning brighter than its previous form would ever deem possible. Irrespective of whether science’s understanding of ‘vibration’ corresponds with the spiritual notion of it, I take some comfort in knowing that one of the most exotic, mysterious and powerful aspects of the cosmos, which has always been close to my heart, mirrors a time-honoured facet of spiritual practice and experience that crosses the boundaries of time, religion, and space. Or is that the other way around?

SUPERMOON IN AQUARIUS: REVELATIONS OF BALANCE by Priestess Bairavee Balasubramaniam PhD

Blessings to all,

A few notes on this Supermoon in Aquarius. This will occur at 2:08 am August 11 2014 (GMT + 8 – Malaysia), 4:08 am Aug 11 (Sydney), 2:08 pm August 10 (New York) a 18 degrees Aquarius-Leo.

Aquarius is an Air sign, contrary to its description as ‘The Water Bearer’. It has a fluid quality – in the sense that we are in fact surrounded by an ‘ocean’ of minute particles that make up the air we breathe. It is what the ancients called Ether, it is what we spiritualists understand as permeating the vacuum of space pervading the Universe.

Of all the air signs, only Aquarius has a ‘Fixed’ quality. This means that the movement of its energy seeks some kind of fixed form or definition. Whilst some of you might go – aha! but isn’t Aquarius all about unconventionality, rebellion and freedom? – others might remember that ‘breaking out’ or ‘defying the system’ depends upon some reference to what is ‘convention’/’order’/’structure’ in the first place.

It is the energy of innovation and breakthrough, associated with those flashes of genius and insight that have the capacity to change the course of the planet’s future. Aquarius also rules the energy of friendship groups, networks or associations aimed at spiritual, charitable or other altruistic causes. It has an orientation that is revolutionary, idealistic and humanitarian.

Aquarius, the 11th house and the planet Uranus are all associated with one other – their energies are often linked to the concept of the ‘Higher Mind’. What this essentially means, for those of us who channel or do other forms of spiritual work, is that the Gates of Aquarius open portals of knowledge to other realms, often from other parts of the Universe. It can equally manifest as that ability to connect with and download information directly from Source, Beyond the Self.

I disagree with the idea that it is a Higher pursuit of the Mind, in the sense of Higher being somehow Elevated in the normative sense of the term. I see Uranian energy as simply referring to Wisdom from Beyond, rather than Wisdom from Within. It is a terminological issue, which does not alter the essence of this article.

With the Moon in Aquarius, we are awakened to the ability to tap into Spirit/Source-Within-The-Self – through the Body/the Womb/through revelations by way of Gnosis as the Sub-Conscious mind opens portals to ancient Knowledge we often forget even exist.

Ultimately Gnosis and the Uranian function work well together – except that our _perception_ of the Sources of Origin of Insight Differ. One is ‘out there’, the other is Knowledge from ‘Within’. From a holographic perspective of the Universe, it’s all one and the same at the end of the day. But for students of astrology, it is an energetic difference well worth bearing in mind.

We have this powerful opportunity to open the Gateways of Information at both ends as it were – in the Heavens and in the Earth, through the Vessel or Vehicle of Self, engaging all levels of our Consciousness. The Revelations we understand now, from within or without, will link together profound wisdom that can alter your life, and the lives of all those around you as you create your own ripple of energy, moving through the Universal Aether. These energies are syncretic and synergistic – differences of ‘In/Out’, ‘Us/Them’ simply dissolve in the the Direct Experience of Knowing that will be available to all at this time.

As a Supermoon, this Full Moon occurs at a time where the Moon is closest to the Earth – it’s energy will be felt more intensely as compared to other Full Moons. However, the energetic dynamics and symbolic significance of the Full Moon remains the same – only more intense.

Full Moons – and SuperMoons – are times of culminations. They may literally or metaphysically represent a time of harvest.

You set the seeds of what you reap now during the New Moon of 30/31 st January 2014. This was a Black Moon Rising, i.e. a second New Moon in a single calendar month and marked the start of the Year of the Horse, as per the Chinese Calendar.

We are now at the midpoint of its energy. Look back to the end of January to realize what you now reap, how and why.

Other influences strongly intersecting with the energies of the SuperMoon are: its opposition to the Sun/Mercury/Lilith conjunction in Leo, the square that these objects make with Saturn and their trine to Uranus Retrograde in Aries. The Sum of these energies are channeled powerfully through the central opposition between the Full Moon and the Sun/Mercury/Lilith conjunction in Leo. I also discuss the energetic opportunities and challenges that arise with these other aspects at this time.

I would like to single out and emphasize the energy of Lilith in Leo and the implications of its opposition to the Full Moon in Aquarius. Lilith, the archetype of the Dark/Suppressed Goddess – the Woman that has been Slighted – is Rising with Her Lion.

She is Kali-Ma, She is Hekate, She is Pele, She is every man and woman who has been disallowed from expressing the wholeness and complexity of their feminine selves. All of us, have felt repression along those lines: The little girl who wasn’t allowed to run and play and express her creativity because … she was just a girl. The little boy who was told to ‘man up’ because he wanted to cry at something that hurt him.

Lilith is supported by Mercury (communicator, analyst) and the Sun (focus of consciousness, the Blessings of the Father) as She Rises. She reaches out to the Mother in the Moon and asks Her for a Vision.

This Vision will reveal a Path for us to integrate, in a way that Honors All, the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine in all Beings. For more information on this aspect and its significance, you might like to also read my article on: Kali-Ma Dances Her Tandava on the World’s Stage: The Rise of the Dark Goddess at http://wp.me/p4OUNS-3f .

A final note: We will meet so many beings as part of our ‘Soul Tribe’ aligned with this, and related causes, at this time. Celebrate those unions, and take the time to embrace one another as we Forge a New World. We may also find the need to set appropriate energetic boundaries with those that may outwardly pretend to play that role, but are in fact seeking to harness or harvest energy inappropriately. Saturn in Scorpio is your ally here, squared by the Dark Goddess. Be fair with the boundaries you set, but honor your needs and path as you do.

I found this article a lovely complement to this piece, also on the SuperMoon: https://www.facebook.com/DharmaStarsAstrology/photos/a.208715032514360.80242.208642779188252/802535083132349/?type=1&theater – They suggest looking back to August 1999, when we had a Full Moon at the same degree (18 Leo- 18 Aquarius)

May We Collectively find the Solutions that We Seek.

Blessings to All,
